NORWESTERS ATHLETE MICHAEL SCHERK IS A TRUE CANADIAN CHAMPION

After an undefeated outdoor season in his first year as a U20 athlete (18 and 19year olds), Michael was selected to compete in the 110m Hurdles as part of Team BC at the 2023 Bell Canadian Track & Field Championships in Langley. He entered the competition with the fastest seed time in the country, achieved the fastest time in the semi-finals, then won Gold in the finals with a new PB of 13.68 making him #5 All-Time best Canadian hurdler for his age group.

During the 2023 season he won the 110m hurdles in the North Shore High School Championships, the Sea to Sky Championships, the BC High School Championships, and the BC Jamboree Club Championships. Michael was recruited by Duke University in North Carolina and will be studying and competing there as part of the Class of 2027.
