Patty Szybunka on track breaking records

Patty started the season off well when she attended the BC

Indoor Championships in Kamloops. She returned with five new

BC records in the five events in which she competed. Patty is now

ranked first in Canada in long jump, triple jump and 60m hurdles,

second in Canada in 200m and 3rd in Canada in the 60m. At the

world level she is ranked 2nd in 60m hurdles, third in triple jump,

fourth in 200m, 7th in 60m and 8th in long jump.

Outdoors on the track Patty broke the 100m and 200m BC

records, was ranked second in Canada in both and on the world

stage is ranked 5th in the 100m and 4th in the 200m.

At practice Patty had a very bad fall and could not attend the

Canadian Championships in 2023. She has made a difficult

recovery, was confined to a wheelchair over the summer, then

crutches. She has returned to light training and is hopeful of

getting back to her previous form. I don’t think that there is too

much that could hold this lady down. Good luck Patty!
